Introduction:
In 2008 I stumbled across a program called Phun, which was originally intended to be an educational tool to teach kids about physics. I decided it would be an interesting challenge to use it to tell a story. Constructing a narrative in this medium requires you to approach it from more of a puppeteer's perspective than that of an animator. The fact that I am not either of those should explain a lot.Programs Used:
- Phun was in its infancy when I made these. I'm guessing around the beta 3 stage.
- Fraps to record the video.
- Adobe Premiere for (admittedly sloppy) editing.
Baby's Got Problems
Song used in this is my very own Tippy Cup.
Mo' Baby, Mo' Problems
Song used in this one is "Breakthru" by Queen. I learned two things from this, and in this order:
1. YouTube will take down your video if the person who owns the copyright to the music you used complains.
2. The video will be reinstated if that same person decides that the way you used the music was kinda cool and beneficial to them for advertising. Sorta like Freddie Mercury giving me a high-five from beyond the grave, but not really.
Duckotron
Song used is "It Only Makes Me Laugh" by Oingo Boingo. I don't know what the hell is going on in this, honestly. Kinda just made it up as I went along. At the time I was toying with making some sort of series called "World of Phun" so I figured I needed an intro. To make the intro song I used a program called Vocaloid to sing the following lyrics:
"well, once again it's time to pay a visit
to a crazy land of two-dimensional physics
say your prayers, welcome to the world of phun
yeah, open wide, the fun has just begun!"
You can download the theme itself from this sexy link!
Final Thoughts:
I have no intention of making more of these. If I ever do, no one will be more surprised than me.
